Donald V. Reeder

Attorney at Law

In 1981, Mr. Reeder joined the law office of Rodriguez, Glenn, Wilkinson & Sites in Madras, Oregon. The firm, first founded in 1934, went through several evolutions during the following decades as partners joined or left. Mr. Reeder became partner in 1983.

A 2019 Memorial Day fire destroyed the 5th Street office located in downtown Madras, precipitated the dissolution of the firm—then known as Glenn, Reeder & Gassner, LLP— at the end of May 2020.

Mr. Reeder continues to practice law as he’s always done, representing Central Oregon farmers, ranchers, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Sumner Rodriguez Tribute

Mr. Reeder attributes much of his expertise, experience, and success to his mentor and former senior partner Sumner Rodriguez.

After serving in the U.S. Army’s 127th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion in England and Germany during WWII, Sumner “Rod” Rodriguez studied law at Stanford University, passed the Oregon Bar Exam, and came to Madras in 1949, a year when Jefferson County was booming with newly irrigated farms.

Over the next three decades and more, Rod had an integral role in forming the community as we know it today. He was an attorney for the cities of Madras and Culver and local school districts. He became a member of the Madras Kiwanis. He served on numerous boards and commissions and helped establish the Bean Foundation, Mountain View Hospital, the Jefferson Scholarship Foundation, and Jefferson County Development Corp.

"Rod worked with other people in the community to do good things, and those good things have grown into really wonderful things,” Mr. Reeder told Madras Pioneer in June of 2020. “Basically, about every good thing you can think of in Madras, the roots of that is Sumner Rodriguez."
